Professor of Pain and Analgesia and Director of the Pain Research Team at Leeds Beckett University, UK. He has over 40 years’ experience researching pain and its management, with more than 300 publications across laboratory, clinical, and community settings. His work spans biological mechanisms, electrophysical agents, epidemiology, and pain education, and he is internationally recognised for his research on TENS. His recent work explores broader socio-cultural and systemic influences on pain, including community-based support and integral perspectives. He is an active educator, doctoral supervisor, non-clinical consultant, and longstanding member of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
