Gothenburg Pain Lab is a research platform for national and international, interdisciplinary research with a focus on person-centred, acute and chronic pain management. The Lab consists of a core group of researchers affiliated with Gothenburg University and Sahlgrenska University hospital. We are based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
What we do
We aim to improve acute and chronic pain management through research. Chronic pain is not simply a symptom of trauma, infection, inflammation, or surgery. It is a discrete condition that alters the nervous system and often has a profound negative impact on the individual, their family and society as a whole. Our research focuses on the patient experience of chronic pain and on testing person-centred interventions for the better treatment of long-term pain conditions. Our aim is to relief suffering for the individual and their families, and to contribute to reducing the burden of chronic pain on society.
